Camped about a quarter mile from Lance Creek. Feeling stronger today. Experienced my first trail magic today, guy giving out Gatorade at Woody Gap. Blood Mountain, the highest point in Georgia, stands between me and a shower tomorrow. I will overcome.  BTW, my trail name is Shrink

Camped at Hawk Mountain Shelter for the evening. Lots of folks here, all thru-hikers. The weather has been gorgeous, lots of trees in bloom. Spent much of the day walking through rhododendrons. Lots of uphill today; legs, calves and shoulders hurt. Taking some Ibuprofen before bed. No pictures today, having trouble keeping phone charged. Need to buy another battery when I can. Early day tomorrow, so checking out.

The past two days have been full of visits with friends and lots of laughs.  Tomorrow night, it’s back on the train, on my way to Atlanta.  I’ve had a fabulous time in Virginia and the weather has been quite warm.  I’ve spent quite a bit of time talking with people about my motivations for the hike, how I got to this place, etc.  Here is what I know: I can do anything that I choose to do; I just have to be willing to take the risk and do the footwork.

Creating Circumstances

I’ve been visiting with old friends today.  I went by my old job and visited my old co-workers.  Not much has changed in terms of the functioning of the agency, except the exciting news of the transition to electronic medical records.  Woohoo for the 21st century.  Everyone looks good and sounds good.  I’ve been enjoying the warmth in Farmville. It was in the 70’s today, so comfortable.  The humidity is nice as well, my skin appreciates it.  It is possible to live our passion.
