Spent the day in Franklin.  Purchased a new pack because I kept having shoulder pain with the old one.  Spent $250 which definitely impacted my budget.  Body is resting and recovering nicely today.  I’ll be back on the trail tomorrow.  While running errands today I spoke with a number of other hikers.  We were all in agreement that hiking the Appalachian Trail really puts life in perspective and puts us in touch with what’s important in life.  The simple things…like a sunny day, random trail magic, a hot dog, mustard packets…all get us excited.  I imagine that this is what it is like to be homeless…the little things are the things to be grateful for.  A hot meal, a roof over the head, a sunny day, a ride into town…the random kindnessess of strangers.  It’s a beautiful day.
